Unless otherwise stated, all Committees meet at the Spring Seminar (in the afternoon of the first day or second day) and the Scientific Seminar (on the day prior to the beginning of the AOA Convention).

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to develop the educational programs of the ACOEP. The general Committee is composed of the chairs and vice chairs of each of its subcommittee. The subcommittees are responsible for the construction of one of the following educational programs: Administrative Aspects of Emergency Medicine; COLA Essentials; EMS Review; Emergency Medicine: An Intense Review; Oral Board Review; Scientific Seminar; Spring Seminar, and the Toxicology Review. An additional subcommittee works with the full Committee to ensure that osteopathic concepts are incorporated into each program. Members should have the ability to assist in the construction of the meetings and an interest and ability to present lectures.
Committee Meetings: Twice yearly for chairs and vice chairs. Subcommittees meet by conference call or email and may meet at least once yearly.
Other Responsibilities: Members may be required to speak at national meetings.

Purpose: The purpose of the Committee is to develop the College's publications and its website. Members are required to write articles and notices
that appear in the national publication or website; proofread/edit articles, as well as to edit quarterly issues of The Pulse and semi-annually edit student publication, The Emergent.
Members should have ability and interest in writing and editing. Technical knowledge/interest of website construction is also helpful.

Purpose: The purpose of the Committee is to review the Constitution and Bylaws of the College, make revisions to keep the document updated, and
to create new policy statements pertinent to maintaining membership in the College.
Committee Meetings: This Committee generally meets once each year or as needed. Business of the Committee may also be conducted by conference call.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to evaluate and develop policy related to emergency medical services. Members should be involved in EMS and
disaster management on a community or national level, or have a sincere interest in this area.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to evaluate applications for Fellowship in the ACOEP and to develop policies pertinent to this area.
Committee Meetings: Once yearly, at the Spring Seminar, and by conference call or mail ballot, as needed.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to evaluate governmental policies pertinent to the practice of emergency medicine; work with the AOA to
advocate for political equity for emergency medicine physicians, and provide information to the members on governmental issues affecting the practice of
emergency medicine.
Committee Meetings: Twice yearly. Members are also encouraged to attend DO Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C. to advocate for emergency
medicine reforms.
Other responsibilities: Members must advocate for emergency medicine issues via letters, email, or telephone, and write informational articles
for publication in The Pulse.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to develop, initiate and evaluate educational policy for residency training in emergency
medicine and its combined specialty training programs. Members must have a sincere interest in resident education and educational credentialing and accreditation.
Committee Meetings: A minimum of three times annually. Meetings are scheduled to meet in conjunction with the Program Directors in
February and at the Scientific Seminar. A third meeting may be called during the early months of the summer. Certain business is conducted
via conference call or mail ballot.
Other responsibilities: Members may be required to participate in the on-site evaluation of
educational programs.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to evaluate, review and implement policies related to membership in the College.
Evaluate applications for Life Membership and other special areas of Membership, as well as develop and evaluate membership benefits.
The Committee is also responsible for the oversight of the survey of members (every third year) and works with other Committee Chairs
and ACOEP staff to develop the survey and evaluate its results.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to identify members for potential positions on the ACOEP Board, AOBEM, AOA Committees,
and for special awards and nominations. It is made up of Board Members and General Members of the College. Committee members are
also responsible for the development of the ballot for election to the Board of Directors and conducting the vote count.
Committee Meetings: Once annually in the Spring or as needed.

Purpose: The purpose of this new Committee is to develop the area of pediatric emergency medicine within in the College.
Some of its anticipated responsibilities are the development of educational standards for residency training; educational
lectures on pediatric emergency medicine for incorporation into existing educational programs of ACOEP, and management of
liaison to various pediatric emergency medicine agencies. Members should have experience or training in pediatric emergency
medicine or a sincere interest in this area.

Members should have a sincere interest in policy development.

Other responsibilities: Members may be required to conduct feasibility studies on proposed policies.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to develop research opportunities within the field of emergency medicine.
Working with the Foundation for Osteopathic Emergency Medicine, this Committee regularly evaluates applications for
research grants and awards. The Committee also develops and manages the research competitions presented at the Scientific
Seminar. Its Subcommittee on Academic Awards works directly with the Foundation to evaluate research and awards on the
resident level. Members should have interest or experience in emergency medicine research, and / or research principles
and practice.
Committee Meetings: Twice Yearly. Subcommittee meets via e-mail and conference call during the summer.
Other Responsibilities: Members act as judges for research competitions and as mentors for physicians conducting research.

Purpose: The purpose of this Committee is to develop academic information on emergency medicine on the predoctoral level.
Members produce student-level lectures for distribution to Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and physicians on pertinent
topics in emergency medicine. Members should have a sincere interest in working with students in a mentoring role.
Committee Meetings: Twice yearly.
Other Responsibilities: Members are required to create lectures for the semi-annual CD-ROM of Student Lectures.
