This year’s Resident Chapter Governing Board election will take place on Wednesday, November 2nd from 12:30-2:00pm at the ACOEP Resident Chapter Board Meeting at Scientific Assembly in San Francisco, CA.

The Resident Chapter Governing Board is made up of 13 members, including five executive officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past-President), and eight committee members.

Below are descriptions for each position on the Governing Board. If you wish to learn more information about the open positions below, please contact ACOEP Resident Chapter President, John Downing, DO, at john.downing@gmail.com. Voting for the Resident Chapter Governing Board is open to all ACOEP Resident members on November 2nd, from 12:30-2:00pm in the Continental 5 room.

President
The President is the Chair and presides at meetings of the Governing Board. He or she exercises general charge and supervision of the affairs of the Chapter, and performs such other duties as assigned to him or her by the Congress of Residents, Governing Board, or the ACOEP Board of Directors. The President serves a one-year term during which time he or she acts as the Resident Representative on the ACOEP Board of Directors. The President must hold a position on the Governing Board for a minimum of one year prior to election.

Vice President
In the absence of the President, or in the event of his or her disability, the Vice President will perform those duties, and possess and exercise the powers and duties as the Congress of Residents, Governing Board, or ACOEP may determine. The Vice President will serve a one-year term. The Vice President must hold a position on the governing board for a minimum of one year prior to election.

Secretary
The Secretary will be responsible for the creation of minutes and other documents, as determined by the Congress of Residents and Governing Board. All correspondence setting meeting dates will be issued in conjunction with and through the ACOEP National Office, under his or her name. The Secretary will also be responsible for submissions to the ACOEP publications, including The Pulse and The Fast Track. The Secretary will serve a one-year term.

Treasurer
The Treasurer will be responsible for the creation and submission of the budget and funding requests to the Finance Committee of the ACOEP. He or she will have the authority to direct purchases required to conduct the business of the Chapter. The Treasurer will serve a one-year term, during which time he or she will hold a voting position on the Finance Committee of the ACOEP.

Member Services Committee
The Member Services Chair will work with the ACOEP main office to create new and maintain current benefits we offered to our Resident Chapter members. They will also work with the office to create the new resident welcome packages that are sent to new interns at the over 50 AOA emergency medicine residency programs. They will serve on the ACOEP Member Services Committee.

Conference Committee (two positions available)
The Conference Committee members will work with the resident chapter vice president to plan all conference events offered by the ACOEP Resident Chapter. Members will serve on the ACOEP’s CME Committee.

GME/Research Committee
The GME/Research Chair will serve as a resource for members of the ACOEP Resident Chapter in regards to research and fellowship opportunities. They will serve on the Foundation of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (FOEM) and the ACOEP Research Committee.

Publications Committee (two positions available)
The Publications Committee members will work directly with the ACOEP Resident Chapter Secretary in the production of all ACOEP resident chapter printed, digital, and social media. Their primary focus will be to work with the Secretary and the Election Committee members from the Student Chapter to produce the quarterly publication of The Fast Track. Members will serve on the ACOEP’s and Publications Committee.

Information Technology Committee
The Information Technology Chair works with the ACOEP staff to maintain updated information on the website, to schedule and produce podcasts, as well as maintain the program database and online resources.
