Latest Update on OON/Surprise Billing

Surprise, out-of-network billing is a critical issue facing every physician practicing emergency medicine. ACOEP has worked with our partners at ACEP to advocate on behalf of physicians and patients, but your voice is needed in speaking up to members of Congress as they debate new legislation on this topic.

This toolkit has been compiled to give you talking points, background information, and all of the tools you need to speak knowledgably on this topic. Do not miss this opportunity to safeguard your livelihood and protect your patients.

Violence Protection Bill Passes the House

ACOEP stands in support of the legislation introduced by Representative Joe Courtney (D, CT) which compels OSHA and employers to create standards and violence protection plans to protect emergency healthcare workers. The bill also protects workers form retaliation for reporting violent incidents, and requires employers to identify and create solutions for potentially dangerous situations.

We are happy to report that the bill has passed the House and now has moved to the Senate for approval. We urge you to contact your Senators today and ask that they support this critical legislation.
