ACOEP is proud to cosign a letter of support for emergency physicians to present to hospital credentialers in order to waive the need for added short courses or certifications in the use of emergency ultrasound.

The letter from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) and the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM), is available to physicians participating in the ABEM continuing certification process or the AOBEM Osteopathic Continuous Certification Program. In addition to ACOEP, ABEM, and AOBEM, the letter is also supported by American Academy of Emergency Medicine, American Academy of Emergency Medicine/Resident and Student Association, Association of Academic Chairs of Emergency Medicine, Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association, and Society for Academic Emergency Medicine.

In it, the letter states that board certification surpasses the need for any additional certifications sometimes requested or required for medical staff privileges.

AOBEM-certified physicians in need of a copy of the letter can reach out to AOBEM directly by phone at (312) 202-8293 or email aobem@osteopathic.org.

If you are an ABEM-certified physician you can download the letter from your Personal Page in the ABEM secure portal.
