Sandy Simons, MD is a full-time night emergency physician in Richmond, VA, and also writes as “ER Goddess” for Emergency Medicine News. She graduated Yale University School of Medicine in 2002 and completed emergency medicine residency at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. She has 14 years of experience doing single coverage nightshift at EDs throughout the Richmond area, and she brings a vantage point which is the antithesis to academic medicine- that of a community EP who is the only physician in-house overnight. She is a members of the SAEM wellness committee, a passionate physician wellness advocate, and a crazy fun sports mom. Her award winning column candidly discusses all aspects of a woman’s life in emergency medicine.
