Brief Bio:
I was the founding program director for the Norman (OK) Regional Health System EM program, where I served for ten years. I now work as the Assistant Vice President of Educational Development for TeamHealth. In this role I continue to work clinically in Oklahoma City and I have a robust EMS practice throughout many regions of Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
I have been a member of ACOEP since medical school and have been on the Board of Directors for the past 4 years.

Interest statement:
It’s important now, more than ever, to continue the good work that ACOEP has been doing the past few years.  We’ve weathered the pandemic, the workforce study and waning interest in emergency medicine as evidenced by poor match rates. We are at a crossroads because osteopathic graduates are having trouble seeing the value added and return on investment for an organization like ours. We have been able to provide robust educational offerings and have our voice heard all the while maintaining the family atmosphere we all love about ACOEP. I hope to continue working with the board to put ACOEP on the best path forward to ensure our legacy while we recruit new young physicians who we can count on to lead us in the future.

Brief Bio:
My name is Matthew Davis, DO. I have been practicing Emergency Medicine since 2007 after completing my EM residency. I have been a member of the ACOEP since becoming a EM resident in 2004. I have worked at Norman Regional Health System, which is a community based hospital, for 16 years. I enjoy education and I have been Core Faculty of the EM Residency since its inception in 2015. I am currently the Simulation Lab Director of the Norman Regional Emergency Medicine Residency.

Interest statement:
I have seen the ACOEP Conference improve greatly over my many years of attendance and would like to continue to see that growth as well as broaden its influence amongst current and future EM residents. I believe the future of the ACOEP depends on them. We need to make sure Osteopathic residents realize the value of the ACOEP. There has been a lot of change throughout the course of my career with the use of bedside ultrasound and the advances in simulation to name a few. Colleagues such as ours are important to help practicing emergency physicians keep up with the changes we have all seen since we started our practices. I realize the importance of the ACOEP and would like to see that continue by becoming a member for the Board.

Brief Bio:
Throughout my career, I have actively engaged in various roles that underscore my commitment to professional development and organizational improvement. I have served two terms as President of the Arizona Osteopathic Medicine Association, NBOME COMLEX Level 2 CE Chair, as well as serve on the state and national House of Delegates. In addition to my clinical practice, I serve as Department Chair for Integrated Medicine overseeing emergency medicine, psychiatry and radiology at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine. These experiences have equipped me with the skills necessary to contribute effectively to the ACOEP Board, including strategic planning, collaborative decision-making, and advocacy for our members.

Interest statement:
As a dedicated Osteopathic Emergency Physician with over twenty years of clinical experience, I have had the privilege of working in diverse and high-pressure environments that have honed my clinical skills and fostered a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within our field. My background in health policy, EMS, and academia has provided me with a unique perspective on the evolving needs of our specialty and the broader healthcare landscape.
I am particularly passionate about enhancing our membership and collaborating with key stakeholders at our colleges and training programs. I believe that my vision aligns with ACOEP’s mission to support emergency physicians and advance the field of osteopathic emergency medicine. By leveraging my clinical, academic and leadership experience and insights, I am confident in my ability to support the Board’s goals and drive meaningful progress for our organization.

Brief Bio:
Dr. M. Shank, D.O., FAAEM, is a board-certified emergency physician with active licenses in Florida and Michigan, and DEA registration in Florida. Currently, he serves as Clinical Faculty at Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a partner at Sarasota Emergency Associates. He also works as a Staff ER Physician at James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital and a Clinical Faculty member at Florida State University College of Medicine. His extensive experience includes previous roles at Michigan State University, various hospitals across Michigan and Ohio, and numerous emergency medicine positions. Dr. Shank holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Point of Care Ultrasound, among others. He has a robust background in education, having completed his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and his residency at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center.

Interest statement:
I am interested in serving on the board of directors for the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians (ACOEP) because I am deeply dedicated to the field of emergency medicine and to supporting my fellow members in the community. I wholeheartedly commit to the 3-year term, eager to contribute my skills, experience, and passion to furthering the mission of the organization. By serving on the ACOEP board, I aim to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of emergency medicine, advocating for the needs of emergency physicians, and advancing the quality of care provided to patients in critical situations. I am excited about the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded professionals, make meaningful contributions to the field, and help elevate the standards of emergency medical practice within our community and beyond.
