It is with great sadness that ACOEP learned of the passing of Joseph J. Kuchinski, DO, a past president of ACOEP from 2000-2002.

Joseph J. Kuchinski, DO, FACOEP, was the medical director at Culinary Health Center Urgent Care in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also a past president of the American College of Osteopathic Emergency Physicians, founder and past-president of the Foundation for Osteopathic Emergency Medicine, a Board member of the Osteopathic Political Action Committee, and a member of the American Osteopathic Association Bureau on Federal Health Programs, where he received the Distinguished Service Award in 2016, the AOA’s highest honor.

“Throughout his life, Joe was a tenacious advocate for osteopathic and emergency medicine and a stalwart pillar of the FOEM and ACOEP communities,” stated ACOEP President Robert Suter, DO, FACOEP-D, MHA. “His passing leaves a tremendous void. While we know that his legacy will live on, we mourn this tragic loss and pray for strength and comfort for his family.”

Dr. Kuchinski earned his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his internship (chief intern) and an emergency medicine residency at Hospital of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his final year of residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center at the Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident. He served as director of Osteopathic Medical Education at two institutions and was also active in postgraduate medical education, helping found three emergency medicine programs. Dr. Kuchinski was also a mentor, educator and friend.

ACOEP sends our condolences to Dr. Kuchinski’s family, friends and colleagues.

The family kindly requests that those wishing to express sympathy consider making a donation to their favorite charity in remembrance of Joe’s life, in lieu of flowers.
