As part of ACOEP’s 2025 Spring Seminar, our Resident Student Programming featured Wilderness Medicine: The Ultimate Emergency Playground!—an immersive, high-intensity experience led by Dr. John Dery. Emergency medicine students and residents from across the country took to Camelback Mountain, where they faced real-life scenarios like heat stroke, fractures, and anaphylaxis in a rugged, unpredictable environment.
With no monitors or backup, participants relied solely on their knowledge, field kits, and teamwork. The Phoenix Fire Department supported the event, which also caught the attention of local media.
