Over 1200 leaders in emergency medicine joined ACOEP in Orlando for The Edge: Scientific Assembly. Beginning with a sold out Ultrasound hands-on lab and very exciting committee meetings, the activity didn’t stop for all five days. The 2015 event featured more didactic opportunities than ever before, a larger and more engaging exhibit hall, exciting FOEM Competitions, and so much more.
Just some of the highlights include a keynote panel discussion featuring ACOEP Presidents Chuck Prestosh and Mark Mitchell, and past ACOEP President and current AOA President John Becher where these leaders discussed their paths to success, advice for other physicians, and the future of osteopathic emergency medicine.
Nearly 100 women attended the inaugural meeting of ACOEP’s new Council for Women in Emergency Medicine, a powerful network creating lasting support and change for all women in this profession. The first-ever ACOEP breakout lecture series was an overwhelming success, allowing attendees to customize their didactic experience. Following a stirring keynote address by Brian Boyle, attendees also saved 99 lives through a partnership with Oneblood who hosted a blood drive benefiting area hospitals.
At the annual Membership Meeting ACOEP President Mark Mitchell shifted the mantle of President to Chuck Prestosh, whose wife, children and grandchildren were on hand to witness this momentous occasion. Everyone was able to celebrate the new board election results and award ceremony at the Welcome Reception at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, hosted by Island Medical Management.
Thank you to the ACOEP Board, CME Committee, faculty, and all of the individuals who keep ACOEP growing.
