“Innovative, engaging and diverse,” are three words that Megan Stobart-Gallagher, DO, FAAEM, uses to describe ACOEP’s Spring Student Symposium this year.

Dr. Stobart-Gallagher is the Assistant Program Director and Undergraduate Medical Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Einstein Healthcare Network.

“I was incredibly honored and humbled to have been contacted by the past

[ACOEP] Student Board regarding the hosting of the spring symposium and since that moment, have been able to collaborate with the Board on the theme, lecture topics, lab topics, and coordination of facilities and staffing,“ Dr. Stobart-Gallagher said.

ACOEP’s Spring Student Symposium will take place on March 25, 2017, from 7:45a-5:30p at Albert Einstein Medical Center, in Philadelphia, PA. The theme of this year’s symposium is “The Sensory Tour of EM,” where attendees can expect a full day of learning including rapid fire lectures, hands-on experience in the simulation lab, as well as a luncheon with regional residency program directors.

As a part of the program, Dr. Stobart-Gallagher looks forward to helping students dive into the world of emergency medicine.

“Seeing junior students experience hands-on EM procedures – some for the first time.  It will be so refreshing to see them outside of the classroom and seeing what it is all about,” she said.

Dr. Stobart-Gallagher stresses the importance of medical students furthering their careers by participating and learning all there is to know at events such as ACOEP’s Spring Student Symposium.

“Being a medical student is work.  It’s your job for four years, and then you’ll move up the corporate ladder, but never forget that during those four years, learning as much as possible is your job, so that you can care for people in their most vulnerable of times.”
