April 8-12, 2019 / Bonita Springs, FL
This April ACOEP’s 2019 Spring Seminar is headed to Bonita Springs, FL, just south of Fort Myers on the beautiful Gulf of Florida. Spring Seminar boasts a myriad of educational experiences to accommodate a variety of learning styles, including hands-on workshops, didactic lectures and board examination review courses, among many more.
This year we’ve revamped the conference and created a brand-new structure for a customizable experience with more interactive, hands-on opportunities at no additional cost! Take a look at the conference’s new structure below.
Ease into the week with two days of general lectures.
The third and fourth days of the conference will be tailored to your own “ED-Venture.” These days will include two hours of lectures followed by two hours of hands-on, interactive sessions on any TWO topics (one per day) of your choosing below**:
Learners will have ample opportunity to practice identifying arrhythmias, ischemic mimickers and other abnormalities using actual EKGs in this session. Additionally, this track will highlight the subtle signs of ischemia that EM physicians should be aware of.
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM)
This track is ideal for the physician seeking to incorporate or increase the use of OMM as a quick and effective treatment option for a wide variety of ED complaints. Learners will also determine which patients will derive the greatest benefit from OMM, which specific techniques should be applied and evaluate the potential billing implications of incorporating OMM into practice.
In this track we will provide cognitive techniques for the identification and management of common pediatric conditions such as rashes and infections. Additionally, antibiotic stewardship and the incorporation of diagnostic ultrasound in the workup of pediatric abdominal pain will be discussed.
*Upon registering for Spring Seminar, you must select one topic per day for the 10th and 11th. Please note that each topic has limited space.
** Tracks are subject to change
The final day of conference will be a day of general lectures.
This workshop will explore the many uses of ultrasound for the EM provider. Learners will practice ultrasound guided nerve block techniques for pain management and examine the value of ultrasound guided regional anesthesia in a hands-on environment.
Airway and Critical Care Workshop
In this highly interactive, hands-on workshop learners will practice various procedures and techniques including transvenous pacing, difficult airway & intubation and obstetrical events in a simulated setting for the treatment of the critically ill pediatric, adult and OB/GYN patient.
