Stephanie Whitmer began working at ACOEP in 2009, and currently serves as the Director of Affiliate Management.  She grew up on the Northwest Side of Chicago, and received her degree in Psychology from DePaul University in 2007, and her Masters in Nonprofit Administration from North Park University in 2013.   She is currently engaged and has 2 dogs and 1 cat.

What’s a nickname your friends or family call you? “Beppy” because my little brother couldn’t pronounce Stephanie when he was a baby.  The name stuck!

What was your very first job? Selling video games at Funcoland. Extra Fun Fact: She learned how to drive in their parking lot!

What’s your favorite app on your phone? Audible.  I listen to 2 books per month.

If you could eat only one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Crab legs

Favorite color?  Mint green

Favorite item in your wardrobe? Black leggings

Do you have any hidden talents? I am a competitive volleyball player and I also play in pool leagues.

What is your ideal day off? Getting a massage or hiking

Pick a favorite season. Why? Summer, because I love camping and road trips in my convertible.

What’s your favorite restaurant in Chicago? Community Tavern in Portage Park

What sports teams do you root for?  White Sox

What’s one of your favorite parts about working at ACOEP? I enjoy being able to manage my own time and juggling many roles at once.

If we went to look for you on a weekend, where would we find you? Having breakfast with my family, playing volleyball, hiking, or at the dog park.

What are words to live by? Mind full or mindful?  This is a reminder to be present in the moment, and to disengage from the swirl of thoughts that take us away from living intentionally.

What is one spot in Chicago that you think everyone should visit? King Spa

What book are you currently reading? Murder on the Orient Express.  I just finished a fictional novel called The Woman on the Orient Express that details the personal life of Agatha Christie, so I wanted to read one of her books immediately after.
